Biography
The music of these four young musicians moves in its own way between the rhythmof the Kooks, the cool drive of Mando Diao, the soul binding beat of the early Stones and the penetrating vibrancies of the Beatles. After the production of their first EP “Green Carpet Sessions” including the fan hymn “Summer is over” - which was recorded live - Monday Tramps found a new supporter, Ex-Kook Max Rafferty. He took the boys as his support band during his March tour. “You’re a brilliant band and great guys too” - This reinforcement has motivated the band to stride towards further successes and go beyond there known abilities.
The band quickly established itself by producing its own music and expert songwriting. Singer and guitarist Tom Appel convinces with a distinctive voice and an accent free English. When it comes to the lyrics there are no embarrassing rhyme schemes such as “love” and “above”. Drummer Max Blank knows when to hold back, but knows when to blow minds. He convinces the audience with his easy coolness and total control of the rhythm while looking completely calm through his curly long hair. Bass player Dominic Barden does what a bass player does best, groove and rock a casual hat. No band is complete without a guitar hero and because of that Tobias Riedl was quickly taken into the brotherhood of Tramps. He plays the guitar as if he were the illegitimate child of Zakk Wylde and Jonny Greenwood. Luckily for us he does not look that way.
The Tramps combine tasteful songwriting with playful quality and pure energy. “A brilliant band” yes - and “great guys” of course!
